Uncle John's Band
Dark Star 06:49 - 07:43 = unknown audience master > ? > C > C > D
Dark Star 07:43 - 10:46 = unknown SBD source > ? > C > C > D
Lovelight 30:13 - 30:46 = another unknown audience master > analog gen > C > C > D
The unknown audience master used to patch the Dark Star is excellent. The other audience master, used to patch the Lovelight, is B+ quality. The second SBD source, supplying the other 3 minutes of the Dark Star missing on the MSR> DAT, is only very mildly inferior to the MSR> DAT source.
The third guitarist audible starting about 2:30 into Dark Star and for several minutes thereafter is Peter Green. Duane Allman on slide guitar enters around the middle of Dark Star. Gregg Allman adds organ & vocals during Lovelight, and Barry Oakley plays a second bass on Lovelight.
This is an optimal copy of a classic hour of Grateful Dead.

Sidewalks of N.Y.
So I was not in the generation of the Pigpen era nor the Keith and Donna era but those fella's hung out down on the Park Bench by the Basketball Court and the Concrete Shuffleboard benches.
There was always a pretty big boom box and I heard some great stuff from Allman Brothers ,Frank Zappa to Cream and before i even knew who they were the music of the Grateful Dead.
For the most part I hung at the far end of the bench and just listened to the crazy stories every once in awhile after the beer was flowing somebody would pass me a doobie and i would catch a hit and return it back towards
whence it came.
I thought those days would go on forever but i guess there were complaints about loud music and weird smells so they locked up the park and put really bright lighting over the benches. Wow, talk about a buzzkill.
Anyway, wasn't even close to being a Deadhead,
Heck wasn't even close to be a teenager.
So, I do remember asking a few times 'What are we listening to?" and one of the times I asked, it was this recording.
This one is really tight, there is another one out there which features a lot of Duane and Jerry not sure which show that was but it was even more intense.
To my virgin ears this 2/11/70 was like having two bands (maybe 3 bands with P Green) and their very distinctive sounds merge into one band.
It really thru me for a loop. I kept thinking the guys had brought down an extra boom box and were playing two separate tapes.
Good to hear this so many years later. As much as I groove on the Lovelight --the big surprise here is the fierceness of the Spanish Jam.
I almost got shot with a pistol down by those benches many years later in a case of mistaken identity and motives.
Guess I kept those angels working over time.
Or as my Dad would say "I had a thick skull"
Which is kinda funny because my family name loosely translated means NUT CRACKER!
Did you ever wonder why God has been so gracious?
Does God look down on the boys in the bar room?
HE sure dreamed of me
when I had no dream of mine.
Thank You JESUS.
Love the Pig rap. He is really feeling his oats.

I consider myself lucky to been a part of this WONDERFUL bands life style for over 400 shows. Yet I did not start my touring till 1981 eleven years late. Cant even imagine?????????
